13 Disappointing Recent Films That Should've Been Great

What Was Expected

A strong debut for first-time director Wally Pfister with a strong cast, a fantastic central premise and plenty of potential to explore thought-provoking ideas.

What We Actually Got

A very strange film and not in a good way. The film has lots of good ideas, but doesn't do anything with them at all, instead seeking only to get weirder as it goes on. And as personality goes this film is as robotic as a Transformer.

Punishingly slow, wildly annoying and completely bewildering throughout, this went from being one of 2014's most anticipated films to one of its most derided with stunning speed.

As for its star Johnny Depp, he is so bad in this movie that you'll find yourself wishing he would put some white face-paint on and start going bananas. At least then he wouldn't be acting with the personality of a zombie. Aside from Mortdecai, this is probably his worst role ever.
