13 Early Predictions For Star Wars Episode IX

2. There Will Be No Sequel Bait

Though Daisy Ridley has made the dubious claim that she's got no plans to appear in any Star Wars movies post-Episode IX, there's absolutely no way she and her co-stars will be able to resist the payday for a new trilogy of movies, and it's quite probable that, a decade from now, at least Episode X and maybe even Episode XI will have been released.

As much as Disney loves money and printing as much of it as possible, it actually feels like Episode IX will have a fairly concrete resolution, bringing the First Order to an end and earning our heroes some well-earned rest.

While the film may tip its hat towards Rian Johnson's planned trilogy of tangential Star Wars movies, any sort of direct bait for Episode X seems like a terrible idea, considering how aggressively it would undermine Episode IX's stature as a climactic event movie.

Plus, with the mainline Star Wars series hopefully taking at least a 5-year break after Episode IX, it'd be mighty foolish to start setting things up already. They need to let the dubious "finality" of Episode IX breathe for a few years before fiddling with it, and touch wood, that's just what they'll do.
