1. Natalie Portman - Thor
The Role: Jane Foster
Looking at her work in the MCU to date (there's a SLIGHT possibility she'll be back), you'd never think that Natalie Portman was one of the most gifted and critically lauded actors of her generation. She's legitimately A-list with several stunning performances under her belt (Star Wars aside) and she has both range and nuance in her locker.
So the fact that she's essentially relegated to being Thor's girlfriend - even when her character is one of the universe's most profound geniuses - is quite the stunning disappointment. Imagine what she could have done with a role that actually demanded something of her...
The reality of Jane Foster is one of frustration as she very quickly and obviously devolves from the premier mind on multiverse theory in the MCU to being all doe-eyed at the big hunky Asgardian. Sure, The Dark World tried to make her more interesting, but the script and direction was so bad that it didn't work and Portman left the franchise entirely, reportedly unhappy at the firing of Patty Jenkins who she had hand-picked for the director's seat.
It wouldn't at all be surprising if some of that happiness had something to do with the direction of her character too, to be honest.
