The "Plot-Hole"

As is established in the books, some of the only things that can destroy a Horcrux are Basilisk venom and Fiendfyre. But in The Chamber Of Secrets, Harry is bitten by the Basilisk when he stabs it and almost dies. Surely the venom should have destroyed the Horcrux inside him? How come it doesn't?

The Solution

It isn't just the use of Basilisk venom that is necessary to destroy a Horcrux. The key to this one is two little words, which JK Rowling confirmed herself:

Harry might almost die but he's clearly not beyond repair, because he is repaired by Faulks' tears. Sure, it's a bit of a cheat, but this is a magical world and regenerative Phoenix tears is hardly the most outrageous thing in this world...
