13 Horrible Movie Characters Who Never Got Their Comeuppance

1. Magneto €“ X-Men: The Last Stand

X-Men The Last Stand Ian McKellenWho Is He?: A mutant with the power of manipulating metal who survived the Holocaust and starts a war between humans and mutants. Why Is He So Horrible?: For a start, he€™s a mass murderer, and although some of his murders (like his mother€™s killer Sebastian Shaw) were justified, the vast majority of them were definitely not. As well as the murder issue, in X-Men: The Last Stand, he stops playing games and carrying out small scale schemes, and expands his small band of mutant terrorists into a full-scale army, declaring war on the US government, sending out terror threat videos like a mutant Osama Bin Laden, and launching a full-scale assault on Alcatraz, where the Cure (a serum that permanently suppresses mutants€™ powers) is being created. What Happens To Him?: As the Battle Of Alcatraz draws to a close, Beast (one of the X-Men fighting in the battle) manages to inject him with a dart containing the Cure, stripping him of his powers and reducing him to nothing but a frail old man. We see him escaping the Battle as an overpowered Jean Grey (an unstable and exceptionally powerful mutant fighting on Magneto's side) begins to destroy everything around her, with a horrified mutter of €œWhat have I done?€ Presumably, he gets picked up by the X-Men or the army and locked up in another metal-free prison like in the first film, right? Wrong. In the scene immediately before the credits, we see a de-powered and demoralised Magneto alone in a park playing chess, implying that he escaped any and all legal consequences for killing hundreds, being leader of a mutant terror cell, and attempting to start a genocidal war. And finally, he absent-mindedly tries to move a metal chess piece and succeeds in making it wobble just a tiny bit. So, not only does he get off the whole mass murder and terrorism thing scot free, but he also has some remnants of his powers left, with the possibility that they will strengthen again over time.
