13 Horror Remakes That Nobody Really Wanted

1. Cabin Fever (2016)

Making an exact replica of a confirmed classic is one thing. Doing much the same with a film of considerably more debatable merit - and, for that matter, a film which isn't even 15 years old yet - is an entirely different level of "huh?" As with Martyrs, this is another upcoming remake which I have not yet seen, but it's fair to say it has been met with an even greater level of bemusement by horror fandom. The idea of such a comparatively recent American film getting made again, in America, is unfathomable; but to remake it with the same script as director Travis Zariwny has reportedly done simply beggars belief. If the original was some sort of masterpiece, it might be more or less understandable why anyone would think this was a worthwhile endeavour. But to remake a middle-of-the-road horror movie in what looks almost certain to be a middle-of-the-road fashion... just why? The dreaded snake that is the horror remake has truly begun to swallow its own tail, and there's simply no way that can end well. Do you agree these were the least welcome horror remakes? If not, any others you'd care to mention? Or do you feel any of the movies listed here are defensible? Fire away in the comments below.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
