13 Long-Delayed Film Projects We Wish Would Get Made Already

1. The Irishman

Originally Announced: October 2008 Status: To be Scorsese's next project after he makes Silence. Plot Details: Tells the true story of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a mob assassin who's reported to have carried out over 25 mob murders. Why Has It Been Delayed? Scorsese has been busy with other projects. I wanted to end this list on a positive note, which is why I put The Irishman at number one. While Scorsese still has one more commitment to make, his other long-awaited project Silence, he has promised that The Irishman will come afterwards. What's so exciting about this project other than the fact that it's a Scorsese movie? Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci have all been rumored to star. This would be De Niro's ninth collaboration with Scorsese and the first since 1995's Casino; meanwhile, Al Pacino has never worked with Scorsese. Sounds exciting, right? Well, there are still many who are skeptical about this film actually getting made. It's been over five years since the project was first announced and, let's face it, none of these guys are getting any younger. They're all past the age of 70. Can they really make this happen? Are you particularly excited about any of these projects? Did I miss one that you're excited about? Sound off in the comments below.
