At the end of the first Iron Man movie, after Tony Stark had fought against Obadiah Stane (who was wearing his Iron Monger armour), Stark was advised to deny any and all involvement in the fracas at a press conference the following day, in order to disassociate himself from the violence and destruction the battle had caused. However, upon hearing the word "superhero", Stark's plans changed (in his own mind, at least) and he abandoned the script he'd had prepared for him and simply uttered four immortal words in front of the world: "I am Iron Man". He knew it would cause controversy, he knew it could incite acts of violence against him, but he went for it anyway. He told the world he was a superhero. Not only was it bad-ass, it was also cool as hell and it's arguably the most iconic and defining moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date.
