13 Marvel Villains Still Alive In The MCU (Who Could Return)

1. The Real Mandarin

We essentially got to see two Mandarins in Iron Man 3. First there was Trevor Slattery, the English actor hired to play the public face of the terrorist group set up to cover up the Extremis "bombings". The second is puppet master Aldrich Killian, who operates from the shadows and actually runs the Extremis programme.

But neither of them is the real Mandarin, who also exists in the MCU. After Shane Black made All Hail The King as an apology to fans upset over the treatment of the character, it was established that the real Ten Rings are still active and are run by the Mandarin. He was also not impressed with Trevor, who ends up kidnapped by one of his agents.

Where Is He?

Wherever the Ten Rings operates from. The MCU seems to have forgotten about them a little since they appeared in Ant-Man, but they've never been taken down and are apparently free to still operate.

Threat Level

As with HYDRA, the Ten Rings are a sprawling terror network capable of popping up wherever there's an opportunity for profit or increased power. If the Mandarin is anything like he was in the comics (all racist stereotypes aside), he could still be a major threat to Iron Man or Ant-Man or indeed the Avengers as a whole.

Whether they'll reappear remains to be seen, but they're pretty much the biggest loose end in the MCU at the minute.
