2. Gamora Actually WASN'T The Last Of Her People

When we first met the Guardians Of The Galaxy team, they were partly so fiercely beloved because they were the kind of charming outsiders cinema fans always respond well to.

It also helped that they all felt unique: Star-Lord might have been human, but he had something else in his genes, Rocket was definitely a one-off, Groot was so rare that The Collector wanted to collect him, Drax's people had been wiped out it seemed and Gamora was listed on her rap sheet as the "last survivor of the Zehoberei people" just as she was in the comics.

But then by the time Infinity War came out, that much had been changed in order to fit in with Thanos' wider story. Instead of him killing all of her people, Thanos wiped out only half in service of protecting the planet from using up all of its resources and dying like Titan. He even notes that the planet is thriving, which obviously doesn't sound like everyone's dead.
