6. Captain America Actually WAS Worthy All Along

When Captain America picked up Mjolnir during his climactic battle with Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, fans popped so hard it could probably have been heard across the multiverse. It was the kind of affirmative hero moment that the MCU has been built on and it confirmed what we'd all suspected - that, just like in the comics, Cap really WAS worthy.

That naturally led to questions as to why Cap was suddenly deemed worthy when he hadn't been in the past. After all, he tried to pick up Thor's hammer in Avengers: Age Of Ulton and failed, so he couldn't have been at that point.

But apparently, he actually was. According to the Russos, "he was [always] able to wield [Mjolnir].” Anthony Russo says that up to the point he moves Mjolnir in Age Of Ultron, he had no idea that he'd be able to pick it up and when he realised, he stopped himself because he's not a show-off:

“Cap’s sense of character and the humility and the sort of deference to Thor’s ego, Cap in that moment realising he can move the hammer decides not to.”

That's also apparently why Thor says he "knew it," which helps make it not an absolute ass-pull reasoning.
