Early Man is more forgettable than any movie from Wallace and Gromit's Aardman Animation stable ever should be.

Well-animated but completely bland from a character and narrative standpoint, Early Man's dawn-of-man comedy shtick gets ill-advisedly mixed up in an ineffective sports comedy, the sheer weirdness of which is overpowered only by its utter soullessness.

Aardman deserves credit for trying something completely different and not just dining out on their usual mainstays, but was...this really the "worthy" project they landed on?

Critics clearly gave Early Man a pass because it's ultimately harmless and is crafted with undeniable care, but is that really enough when it's also so snooze-inducing?
