13 Movies That Scored A Legendary F With CinemaScore

So far, Darren Aronofsky's controversial religious-flamer has made just over $16m from a $30m budget, suggesting that CinemaScore were correct about how much people want to see it. It probably didn't help that it's one of the most confusing movies of all time (unless you're well into your Bible studies) and that it seems to consciously seek to trigger than rather entertain the audience.

Sure, it's well made, but it's not particularly enjoyable.

Did It Deserve It?

Pretty much. It might be an intelligent piece of artistic provocation, but the marketing department lied about what mother! really was, presenting it as a conventional horror when it's absolutely far from it. For that alone, they deserve the flack.

And then there's the film itself, which descends into despicable territory at the end with a touch of unnecessary, harrowingly graphic infanticide. That's not the kind of thing any cinema audience should look forward to - or enjoy - so it's no surprise that it earned the hallowed F.
