The Original: 1998's Antonio Banderas-starring action adventure flick was wildly praised by critics for its throwback appeal to the swashbuckling films of Errol Flynn's era, while audiences paid a whopping $250 million to see the movie. This led to the inevitable 2005 sequel, The Legend of Zorro, which was nowhere near as financially or critically successful as the first movie, criticised for being a routine, unimaginative sequel, killing a potential cash cow stone dead in the process.
