13 Movies You Loved As A Child (But Hate As An Adult)
10. Willow (1988)
Appearing on-screen without a mask over his face was something of a rarity for Warwick Davis back in 1988, though the dwarf actor was given the chance to do so when he took on the role of Willow Ufgood, a kind farmer who has hopes of becoming a sorcerer until the day he finds a baby floating down a river. Upstream, the evil Queen Bavmorda orders her forces to track down the missing baby, fearing that it may be the girl whom prophecy foretold would bring her reign of terror to an end. A box office fail for director Ron Howard, Willow's cult following seems to have more to do with the fact that the idea was conceived by George Lucas rather than the film itself. This sword-and-sorcery story borrows from numerous sources and fables, and becomes relentlessly predictable as a result. Adult viewers might find themselves mildly impressed by the production value, though the magic you experienced as a child is nowhere to be seen, and, as Willow himself puts it, magic is the bloodstream of the universe, especially when it comes to kids movies.
