All 13 Pixar Theatrical Shorts: Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Luxo, Jr. (1986)

Luxo

In 1986, Pixar Animation Studios produced a groundbreaking short released in cinema called Luxo, Jr. This is why they have a hopping lamp in their logo. Luxor, Jr was written and directed by John Lasseter and was inspired by the Luxo lamp he had on his desk. It was originally produced to show at SIGGRAPH, where it's breakthroughs in computer animation wowed and sent shock waves through the entire industry. Not bad for a simple animation that - on a cinematic level, at least - tells an adorable story of Luxo, Jr. playing with a ball under the watchful eye of Luxo, Sr. It epitomises what we love best about Pixar and their ability to bring character and empathy towards inanimate everyday objects. The ball Luxo, Jr. plays with also features in Toy Story. It was officially released in 1999 at the beginning of Toy Story 2 and still holds as much significance and adoration today, 27 years down the line. Like this article?
