10. To Find The Infinity Stones, Thanos Gives Away An Infinity Stone
The film begins with Loki invading Earth to capture the cub-shaped energy source called the Tesseract, which has the ability to create wormholes. We learn in later movies that the reason why Thanos wants the Tesseract is because it houses the Space Stone, which is one of six Infinity Stones he needs to complete his Infinity Gauntlet.
In this film, he tasks Loki with retrieving the Tesseract. To help him overpower the forces of Earth, Thanos gives Loki a mind-controlling weapon called The Sceptre. The Sceptre is powered by another one of the Infinity Stones, the Mind Stone.
Wait… if Thanos desperately covets the six Infinity Stones, why does he give one so freely to Loki to retrieve another one?
