13 Things You Didn't Know About Friday 13th Part III
10. This Jason Is Nothing Like The Version In Part 2
Despite Steve Miner returning to direct from Part 2, the production taking place about sixteen months after Part 2 and the story supposedly carrying on directly from where Part 2 left off, Jason Voorhees looked significantly different in Part 3.
Former trapeze artist man Richard Brooker was tapped to be the new Jason due to his size, as the producers wanted someone who would be physically intimidating on this occasion. Brooker was around six foot three (a good three inches taller than Warrington Gillette or Steve Dash) and although powerfully muscled was lean and toned, requiring him to wear padding to achieve the required hulking look they were after.
A veteran performer, Brooker also performed all of his own stunts, making Part 3 the first Friday The 13th movie where the killer is played by the same person throughout.
Carl Fullerton's make-up effects design for Jason was also radically altered, with the dropped eye moved further up the face and the beard and long hair removed entirely.
