13 Things You Didn't Know About Friday The 13th Part 2
2. The Son Also Rises
Jason Voorhees isn’t the only infamous scion to make an appearance in Friday The 13th Part 2. The film also marks the debut of Frank Mancuso Jr as an associate producer and behind-the-scenes runner.
A recent college graduate, Mancuso was a complete rookie, turning twenty-two during the shoot. Despite this, a year later, he was the executive producer in charge of the next Friday The 13th movie. Mancuso would go on to shepherd the franchise into the future, skipping only one movie before leaving the franchise after co-creating and co-writing the Friday The 13th television series.
How’d he manage that? Nepotism: Mancuso Jr was the son of longtime Paramount distribution executive Frank Mancuso Sr, a man so powerful that he was promoted to run the studio in 1984.
Reports are that Mancuso Jr was not well liked by other Paramount executives for some reason that can’t possibly have anything to do with how he got the job. His coincidental firing in the early nineties coincidentally coincided with his father's own coincidental firing from Paramount and was, apparently, the result of plenty of coincidental knives in the back.
Mysteriously, Frank Jr would later find employment as an executive at MGM… only months after Frank Sr took over at that studio. Coincidence. It’s such a weird thing.
