For the big-time Friday the 13th fans, you'll be well aware of this fact, but for those more casual horror fans, you might be surprised to learn that Friday the 13th Part III was the first film to feature Jason Voorhees' iconic hockey mask.

While many regularly lambast Shelly, it's actually down to him that Jason first picked up the hockey mask that's since become synonymous with the character.

In typical Shelly fashion, this comes about after he'd been shunned by Vera for playing some stupid prank on her. As Vera casually sits on the dock, a hockey mask-clad figure grabs her from under the water, attempting to pull her to her murky demise - only, of course, it's Shelly d**king around.

As Shelly skulks off to a nearby barn to see what else he's missing out on, it's here that he meets Jason and has his throat slit (off-screen), with Voorhees then taking that hockey mask as his own.
