13 Things You Learn When You Rewatch Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

6. Lando Calrissian Is A Great Addition To The Cast

As played by Billy Dee Williams, Lando Calrissian is a mercurial presence, out-cooling even Han Solo in his charm and demeanour (and his smile, especially his smile). Calrissian and Han have a great chemistry, and it adds to the film that sense of buddy-ism which is otherwise missing since Luke is away on his own solo adventure (much like Obi-Wan in Attack Of The Clones). Best when he€™s charming Princess Leia right under Han€™s nose - there€™s a great moment when he holds his gaze and flashes that grin before remarking how beautiful she looks, prompting Han to link her arm and look at Lando incredulously - Calrissian does have an important role to play plot-wise, too. It€™s just that Williams is so damn charismatic as the Baron Administrator of Bespin€™s Cloud City that you kind of forget it: it€™s no stretch to say that he€™s coolest character in all of Star Wars.
