The Question: Batman v Superman established that this version of Batman (Ben Affleck) isn't afraid of killing people to get the job done, so why on Earth would he let someone as violent, crazy and adept at escaping as The Joker stay alive, especially after killing Robin?

The Likely Answer: There's not really a good answer here, but it's probably something to do with Batman's murderous antics being a relatively new trick following Superman's arrival, and let's face it, he's been pretty pre-occupied lately with the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill).

Really, it's because killing off The Joker would be flushing potentially hundreds of millions of box office dollars down the toilet, as Bats and the Clown Prince of Crime will almost certainly square off in the Caped Crusader's solo movie The Batman.
