13 Uncanny Similarities Between Venom And Catwoman

9. The 'Loud Neighbor' Scene

Catwoman Venom
Warner Bros.

If there's one moment in Venom that should make audiences sit up and go, "wait... is this just a Catwoman remake?" in the opening thirty minutes, it has to be this one.

Early on in Venom, it is established that Eddie doesn't like his neighbor because he plays loud music late into the night. The first time this happens, Eddie is visibly upset (hysterically so) but is too afraid to do anything about it. But later, after he's been infected by the symbiote, the loud neighbor plays his music again and Venom helps Eddie storm over and scare him into turning the music down.

This is all fine and good, except this is a scene taken verbatim from Catwoman. In Catwoman, Patience also has a loud neighbor who likes to play loud music late into the night. The first time it happens, she's upset but doesn't do anything about it because she lacks the courage and strength. But later on, after she's gotten her powers, it happens again and her feline instincts proceed to help her go attack the guy and scare him into turning the music down.

In both cases, this is played for the cheapest and easiest laughs imaginable and it is painful to sit through.
