13 Upcoming Movie Sequels We Really Don’t Need

Does the world really need another Magic Mike film?

2014 has been a pretty great year for sequels so far: Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Raid 2 are both regarded by many to be superior to the original movies, while even something largely considered inferior to the previous film, like Muppets Most Wanted, was at least in the same ballpark of quality. This leaves us with hope that the anticipated sequels to Spider-Man, X-Men and so on might actually deliver on their promises as well. But what about those sequels that are just...totally unnecessary? Not all of these movies are sequels to terrible films: in many cases the original or previous movie was good, even pretty great, but there's simply no conceivable wiggle room for another film to come about, except of course in order to generate truckloads of money for the studio. Some of these movies are wildly cynical sequels trying to milk the cash cow, and others give the feeling they're going to be awkwardly forced follow-ups to solid movies that never needed it. Of course, sequels account for so much of what we see in multiplexes these days, so feel free to suggest any other upcoming sequels that we absolutely don't need to see.
