13 Upcoming Movies That Will Probably Get Cancelled

12. Scarface

Diego Luna

The Hype: A "reimagining" of the legendary gangster tale, drawing influence from both the Howard Hawks and Brian De Palma movies, with Diego Luna playing the protagonist (whether that's Tony Montana or not), and the Coen Brothers writing the script.

Why It Won't Happen: Universal is incredibly optimistic if they think their new Scarface movie is going to land its planned August 2018 release, considering there's still no director attached and the Coens are busy working on their Netflix western series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

It's easy to imagine this one getting continually delayed until it just quietly disappears, because honestly, how many people really want to see another Scarface movie?

Why It Still Could: Don't underestimate Hollywood's perseverance when it comes to milking iconic brands for every drop they're worth, and while there's no way the movie will release next year, that doesn't mean the Coens won't get to it once their TV work is out of the way.
