5. Rubber (2010)
The Plot: A rubber tire, Robert, becomes sentient and starts killing people with its psychic powers, which it can use to explode the heads of anyone it so wishes. Most WTF Moment: At the very end of the movie, Robert is shot and killed by the police, and just as everything seems to return to normal, a tricycle emerges, demonstrating the same murderous powers as the tire. Robert is back, and as he makes his way to Hollywood reincarnated in trike form, a gang of "alive" tires follow suit. Why It's Awesome: Right from Rubber's opening scene. it declares to be concerned with the idea of things happening for "no reason", so if you stick with it, you have some idea of what to expect. A surprise it is, though, that Rubber is actually a hilarious genre mash-up which takes familiar slasher material and reinvents it in a wonderfully absurd way. Hilarious, evocatively shot and delightfully bonkers, it's a fantastic tonic for those bored of contemporary Hollywood fare.
