Having just about coaxed everyone around on the idea of Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile, director Joe Berlinger has thrown another curveball by casting Metallica frontman James Hetfield as officer Bob Hayward.

It's an interesting role as he was the first officer to arrest Bundy after a routine traffic stop uncovered burglary tools in his car. It's also - worryingly - Hetfield's first ever acting role, which you definitely don't need in a film that already started off needing to convince people of its legitimacy.

Will It Work?

Hetfield has absolutely no acting credits to his name, and while it's not a major role in terms of time on-screen, it's a key one that will require a good performance. And not the sort of performance he's used to as a rock frontman.

The jury is definitely out.
