14 Dumbest Things In Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

10. Hiking To Heaven

As the shuttle Copernicus zips through the atmosphere of the planet in the center of the galaxy, Spock reports, “I am no longer in control of the craft.”

Whereupon the shuttle lands near the Jupiter II crash site on Priplanus... er, near the Trona Pinnacles California... er, Sha ka ree, and the group disembark.

But if Mr. God Thing is in control of the shuttle, why did he set it down so far away from the spot where he’d make his grand entrance? Why not bring it down right next to his showroom? And even assuming there’s a reason the shuttle couldn’t land in a convenient parking spot, just how did Sybok know where to lead the hike? The filming location features an all-to-apparent dirt road heading up into the rocky pinnacles, but we don't see the party using it. Ignored road aside, was the center of those pinnacles just obvious? Or was Mr. Thing sharing his location with Sybok over some Vulcan mind meld wifi?
