14 HUGE MCU Announcements From Disney's D23 Expo

3. Ms Marvel

The third and final new show added to Disney+ during the Disney+ panel on Friday was Ms Marvel. It's a project that has been talked about quite openly by Kevin Feige in the past, with the Marvel supremo talking up the character as something he'd really like for the future of the MCU. And now that future is here.

Ms Marvel will follow Kamala Khan and will be based on the comic that was headed up by G Willow Wilson, which featured Marvel's first headlining Muslim hero. With representation a major call-to-action in the MCU, this is a big deal.

In the comics, Khan takes inspiration from Captain Marvel, which may suggest that she TOO will appear on Disney+ at least as a background presence of some sort. The hero's powers - which make her one of the most powerful in the MCU really - involve shapeshifting, stretching, and “embiggening,” and while she was linked to the Inhumans in the comics, there's no way that's happening after that show's failure.

Feige also used the announcement to confirm that she would be appearing in future movies as well as her show, which presumably goes for She-Hulk and Moon Knight too, provided they have the expected audience.
