14 Most Out Of Place Scenes In Movie History
7. "I Definitely Have Breast Cancer" - The Room
The Scene: Early on, Lisa's (Juliette Danielle) mother Claudette (Carolyn Minnott) randomly declares to her daughter, "I'm dying".
Lisa is quick to dismiss her claim, but Claudette retorts with, "I got the results of the test back. I definitely have breast cancer."
Why It's Out Of Place: To be fair, there's not a single scene in Tommy Wiseau's magnificent cult disaster that feels like it was written, directed and acted by actual human beings, but even for the loose grasp on tone and logic that the film has, this moment is incredibly jarring. Plus, Claudette's apparent cancer is never mentioned again, to make it stick out even more.
Who just blurts out they've got cancer so nonchalantly? It's so patently misguided from an acting and directing perspective it's almost enough to convince you Wiseau did it on purpose. Almost.
