Though there's a lot of fervent debate about who is the most powerful Star Wars character of all time, you need look no further than the word of God, George Lucas himself, who has stated that Luke Skywalker is the most powerful Force user ever.

Now, you might argue that Lucas' say in the franchise is somewhat diminished these days, but considering that Luke has been elevated to essentially a mythic level ahead of the release of The Last Jedi, it's easy to expect him to drop jaws with a devastating show of force that cements him as the ultimate Jedi Master surpassing all others.

Luke's incredible combat skill and use of the Force, combined with his lack of comprehensive training and refusal to be lured to the Dark Side makes him the success story his father was not, and the realised potential that still awaits characters like Rey and Kylo Ren.

We won't know for sure just exactly how powerful he is until The Last Jedi, but you can bet it's going to be one Hell of a "holy s***" moment.

The fact that the Resistance is so desperate to locate him suggests that his wisdom and strength have grown to seismic proportions since we last saw him, probably even in excess of the Machiavellian schemer that is Sidious.
