Why It Might Save Hollywood: Even when his films aren't exactly great, Guillermo del Toro always comes out swinging with something ferociously, confidently unique, and his upcoming historical fantasy flick sounds like it could be a return to the Pan's Labyrinth school of filmmaking.

With an R-rating already guaranteed and a terrific cast also including Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins and Michael Stuhlbarg, this should provide a diverting jolt while studios are otherwise busy dropping their more conventional blockbusters and most awards-baiting fare.
