14 Predictions For Next Summer's Biggest Movies
14. New Mutants Is More Successful Than X-Men: Dark Phoenix
The Prediction: The upcoming teen-centric spin-off from the core X-Men franchise will help reinvigorate interest in a series that's started to lose its most compelling actors.
With The Fault in Our Stars' Josh Boone bringing a fresh new voice to the series, don't be surprised if it ends up significantly more successful than next November's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which could very well be another so-so effort following on from Apocalypse, especially with it being writer-director Simon Kinberg's filmmaking debut.
Why It Might Not Happen: Then again, a superhero movie is entirely new territory for Boone, and Kinberg has the backing of X-Men Godfather Bryan Singer in a producer capacity, so perhaps Dark Phoenix could be the rebound the main series desperately needs, while New Mutants suffers through a few growing pains.
