14 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About The DC Extended Universe

12. Jared Leto Is Probably Done As The Joker

Shortly after the release of Suicide Squad, reports emerged that Jared Leto wasn't happy with how egregiously his role as The Joker was trimmed down for the film's final cut, and in recent months there's been rampant speculation that he may be done playing the character entirely.

While general response to Leto's interpretation of the character has been "mixed", to be kind, it was hard to gauge his performance all that much because he simply had such a small, insignificant part in the film. Basically, it was tough to care that much either way.

Many hoped that Leto reappearing in The Batman would give him more room to explore the character in satisfying fashion, but with the recent announcement of a Martin Scorsese-produced Joker origin story with a new actor (albeit existing outside the DCEU), the prospect of two competing Joker actors doesn't seem terribly likely.

It's most probable that the Scorsese movie goes ahead and The Joker is quietly ushered out of the DCEU for the foreseeable future, which is a damn shame given Leto's talent and the fact he never really got a fair shake with the character.
