14 Star Wars Original Trilogy Easter Eggs You Need To See

7. Ben Burtt

The Imperial Officer who, when the traps closes in on the Rebels in Return Of The Jedi, turns up in the Shield Generator and tries to capture the Endor team ("freeze"), only to be brutally murdered by Han Solo is one of the most important people in the history of Star Wars. Well, not the character of Colonel Dyer exactly, he's rather inconsequential, but the man who plays him, Ben Burtt.

Burtt was the sound designer on all the Star Wars films (including the upcoming Episode VII) and editor of the prequels, so naturally he's had a rather big impact on the saga, but quite how much is bigger than his name suggests; he's behind all famous sound effects. Lightsaber wooshes, blasters pews and R2-D2's bleeps; all masterminded by Burtt, so it's really only fitting he got a cameo in the films proper.

If you'd like to learn more about how he made the different effects check out our run down of the ten most ridiculous. Of course, there's one interesting sound effect Burtt didn't create, but certainly had a big role in, which we'll see next.
