14 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics

10. CHiPs

Why It's Terrible: An R-rated big-screen adaptation of the classic 1970s buddy cop TV show nobody asked for, CHiPs lives down to expectations with its low-effort humour, forgettable plot and total lack of a reason to exist.

Why It'll Be A Cult Classic: There's one major thing this movie has going for it: the chemistry between leads Dax Shepard (who also wrote and directed the film) and Michael Peña, which generates a few easy laughs even when the script doesn't.

It's also got Vincent D'Onofrio pulling his usual supporting performance in a movie that doesn't deserve him, and Shepard's wife Kristen Bell shows up briefly, solely so Shepard can show the audience how hot she still is.

Because the action is not-awful from a visual standpoint and it captures a small smidgen of the 21 Jump Street vibe it was shooting for thanks to the two central performances, there's sure to be a small but loyal gathering of fans keen to defend CHiPs to the ends of the Earth.
