Duncan Jones has, to date, made one great sci-fi indie, one great sci-fi blockbuster, one pretty bad fantasy blockbuster, and one godawful sci-fi indie. An interesting track record was kicked off with 2009’s Moon.

Sam Rockwell’s Sam is the sole astronaut on the moon who’s only company is that of GERTY, a robot voiced by Kevin Spacey. His three-year gig turns out to be much more than he bargained for as the truth of his mission is revealed. A good film with an equally good twist is rare but look no further.

Moon was Duncan Jones first film and what a first film it was. Horrific, funny, and mind-bending, the film was shot for an estimated $5 million and left it all on the screen. Rockwell would have to wait 9 years to win his Oscar, but had he won it in 2009 it would have been well-deserved.

If you talk in a theatre I'm in, be prepared to get some pretty passive aggressive stares.
