15 Actors Who Were Almost Cast In Harry Potter

12. Bob Hoskins - Horace Slughorn

To many Bob Hoskins is best remembered for the role of the gruff Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Playing things rather straight next to his elastic cartoon co-stars, that's just the tip of his extensive career. Beyond his most well-remembered role, Hoskins was a top notch character actor, delivering a wide range of performances that suggested he'd have been a good fit for the eccentric Horace Slughorn. Hoskins was considered for the new potions master with an obsession with famous students, but lost out to Jim Broadbent. Given how enjoyable the latter was it's hard to get too worked up about. This wasn't Hoskins only run in with the franchise though. J.K. Rowling once said she'd write a character Hoskins could play on screen, with her subsequently stating the seventh book had an older wizard suitable for him, although nothing came from it.
