It's always nice to see a friend do well, although for Hunter Parrish seeing RV co-star Josh Hutcherson get the very role he was so close to getting himself must be a little painful. The Weeds star and sometimes singer has been trying to break into the big leagues for a while now, and a central part in one of the world's largest new franchises would have certainly made that transition happen. Parrish and Hutcherson were linked to the part from the off, although fan opinion of the former was mixed; some thought he perfectly captured the character's essence, while others found him a bit dopey. The actor auditioned for the series again with Catching Fire, angling for Finnick Odair (although this time probably knowing his chances were slight against the massive competition).
