13. Saoirse Ronan - Scarlet Witch

Word began to spread in mid-2013 that Marvel were seeking out Saoirse Ronan to play Scarlet Witch after she publicly stated that she'd be interested in the part. Several months later, however, she reportedly ended up passing on the role, and so Marvel went with their second choice, Elizabeth Olsen.

Would It Have Worked?: Definitely. Ronan's an Oscar nominee for Christ's sake, she's great with accents, she's got an intense, unique look and is used to playing strong women with hidden vulnerabilities, so it's a shame we never got to see what she would've brought to the part (though Olsen is a damn fine replacement).
