10. Channing Tatum - Captain America

Back in 2010, Channing Tatum had just barely stepped out of Step Up's shadow and found moderate success with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but Marvel Studios took notice and quickly approached him to play Captain America in his 2011 solo outing.

However, negotiations stalled and a few weeks later Chris Evans was secured for the part, in one of the MCU's best casting coups to date.

Would It Have Worked?: At the time it was pretty laughable, though it's much easier to believe now. Still, Tatum's strong suit isn't exactly playing the earnest, chiseled nice guy: it's playing the tough dumba**, so maybe his casting would've fundamentally altered the red, white and blue superhero in a not-so-cool way.
