15 Actors Who Trashed Their Own Movies

10. Mark Wahlberg - The Happening (2008)

Even at the time of its 2008 release, it was easy to see not even Mark Wahlberg’s Funky Bunch flavour could rescue a very genuine worst-of-all-time contender.

M. Night Shyamalan served us a whopper with this one. A sham of an attempt at bio-psychological horror or something such, and Wahlberg himself has admitted it doesn’t deserve to see daylight.

Apart from this one scene:

Speaking on a press tour for The Fighter in 2010, Wahlberg said Amy Adams dodged a bullet by missing out on the role of his wife in The Happening, which instead went to Zooey Deschanel.

To this day moviegoers don’t fully understand what the film was about, and it doesn’t sound as though Wahlberg did either. Per Entertainment Weekly, he added:

“And then I was still able to…I don’t want to tell you what movie…all right, The Happening. F**k it. It is what it is. F**king trees, man. The plants. F**k it. You can’t blame me for not wanting to try to play a science teacher. At least I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.”

You may not have been playing a crook, Mark, but you robbed audiences of entry fee and 90 minutes.

Tom Sunderland hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
