15 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Tarantino Movies

2. Gary Oldman - Lance (Pulp Fiction)

The Role: One of Pulp Fiction's more memorable supporting characters is Vincent Vega's drug dealer Lance, played with hilarious aplomb by Eric Stoltz. When the movie was a project at TriStar Pictures, however, Lance was almost played by Gary Oldman on the strength of his turn as Alabama's pimp Drexl in the Tarantino-scripted True Romance. What Happened?: When TriStar passed on Pulp Fiction, Tarantino was under no pressure to cast Oldman, and after almost casting himself in the part, he decided to cast Stoltz so that he could have a more hands-on part in directing the (in)famous adrenaline syringe scene. Would It Have Worked?: Oldman has proven beyond doubt that he's absolutely killer in parts like this, so unequivocally, yes, this would have worked extremely well.
