15 Announced Movies That Are Destined For Development Hell
13. Memento
Status: The remake of Christopher Nolan's 2000 psychological thriller masterpiece was announced by AMBI Pictures in 2015, who claim the film will "stay true to...Nolan’s vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original". Good luck with that.
Why It's Going To Development Hell: Because nobody except AMBI Pictures wants this film to get made, and considering how there's arguably no superior angle to take to Nolan's near-perfect effort, AMBI will probably eventually get the message and quietly let the thing die as they unsuccessfully try to shop it around Hollywood.
That's not to say it definitely won't happen, as it could easily pick up traction if the right actor-director combo took it on, but given how much Hollywood loves the original, it'd be kinda sacrilegious.
