15 Australian Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

With so many things just waiting for the first chance to kill you – from killer spiders and sharks to drop bears and Russell Crowe – it’s no wonder that Australia is a perfect setting for natural horrors and animal attack movies. And that’s exactly where director Greg McLean turned his attention to following the success of his debut feature Wolf Creek.

In Rogue, the villain isn’t a murderous ocker but a huge saltwater crocodile with an appetite for human flesh. Somehow that’s all the more scary than a gun-wielding Mick Taylor. Yes, human monsters can off us in all kinds of ways but as far as we know they don’t have seventy teeth and subdue their prey via death rolls.

Radha Mitchell and Michael Vartan star alongside Wolf Creek actor John Jarratt and a pre-fame Sam Worthington and Mia Wasikowska as a ragtag group whose boat trip goes awry when they’re attacked by a croc and gradually picked off one by one.
