4. McConaughey Gets Eaten - Reign Of Fire

The marketing for this absurd post-apocalyptic fantasy flick made frequent use of by far the movie's most memorable image: Matthew McConaughey diving through the air and swinging an axe at a dragon. It's just as well, because it's definitely the best and most memorable part of an otherwise spectacularly awful film.

McConaughey plays survivalist leader Denton Van Zan, who near the end of the movie attempts to fire a crossbow full of explosives down the dragon's throat, but his plan doesn't work, and the dragon totally no-sells it.

Realising he's out of other options, Van Zan makes the ultimate Hail Mary pass, by grabbing his giant axe, diving through the air at the dragon and hoping for the best. The dragon again isn't fazed, promptly flying at Van Zan and eating him whole.

Considering how much the trailers built this moment up, it was both shocking and hilarious for McConaughey's character to be done away with in such anti-climactic fashion. The size of Van Zan's balls, though, were never in doubt after this.
