4. The Canyon Explosion - Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
For a minor moment, this deleted scene packed a real punch. Had it been included, audiences would have been treated to a moment in which Indy, Henry, Sallah and Marcus are directed to the location of the Canyon of the Crescent Moon by way of a huge explosion in the distance (seen in the image above). In this version of the movie, the Nazis blast a hole in the chasm in order to access it, and that's how our heroes are able to track them. It would have also explained how nobody had ever stumbled upon the secret canyon prior to this, given its highly concealed location. This scene would have taken place directly after the scene that sees Henry Jones Sr. mourning the supposed death of his son after it appears as though Indy has fallen off of the side of a cliff in a tank, but was eventually cut out because Spielberg felt it unnecessary given that Henry already had the exact location of the canyon marked in his diary. Look at the size of that explosion - even if the movie didn't need this, it's still cool!
