The Plot: An account of the rise to stardom of British pop legend Elton John, from his unassuming origins to his mainstream success, substance abuse issues and struggle to embrace his sexuality.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: For starters, Taron Egerton looks every bit the part you'd hope for as Elton John, and in a neat bonus, he'll also be providing the singing voice for the pop icon.

Dexter Fletcher's direction meanwhile seems a little more adventurous than you might be expecting from a film clearly attempting to ape the success of Bohemian Rhapsody (which Fletcher himself completed after Bryan Singer was fired from the production).

If it can reconcile John's true story with some neat surreal flourishes, this could be so much more than the workmanlike musical biopic that many are understandably expecting.
