15 Awesome Scenes From Trailers That Were Stupidly Cut From The Film
4. The Muppets
One of the most accomplished advertising campaigns of the past decade has to be the one for Jason Segel's invigorated reboot of The Muppets. The regular trailers alone were already incredibly subversive, but in a marketing move that had J.J. Abrams green with envy (and not from drinking too much Slusho!) we got brilliant pastiches of recent ones for other movies.
Including The Hunger Games, Green Lantern and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, they captured the trailer spot on, cleverly only using footage from the actual film (particularly impressive in the renamed Froggie Tattoo montage). The first one, dubbed The Fuzzy Pack and riffing on The Hangover: Part II, ended with the gang in jail, kept in a cell next to a tattooed Danny Trejo. One of the film's many cameos, his appearance was axed due to time constraints. Which is a shame - Trejo trying to pass off as a Muppet could have been one of the film's highlights.
The subplot involved Billy Crystal sending the gang to jail after hosting a mockery of the Oscars. Which explains where Seth MacFarlane has been all this time.
