15 Bafflingly High Rotten Tomatoes Scores You Won't Believe

9. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Critical Consensus: "As a tour documentary, it's rather uninspired -- but as a 3D glimpse of a building pop culture phenomenon, Never Say Never is undeniably entertaining." Why It's Wrong: It's difficult not to be biased here, but viewers are either in two camps: they're card-carrying Bieber fans (and therefore probably under the age of 18), or they simply have no interest in the kid and his music, and surely the latter is true of most critics. So strong was the vitriol for this movie that it currently holds a 1.5/10 score on IMDB, with over 70,000 votes, just narrowly missing out on the infamous Bottom 100 list. Why The Critics Liked It: Part of being a film critic is rating a film in the context of whether its target audience would like it or not, and as such, they're not really wrong. Most Bieber fans would probably swallow the doc down just fine, though at the same time, it does feel like a lot of critics simply give these PR puff piece music docs a free pass to avoid accusations of bias. Case in point, the recent Katy Perry (78%) and One Direction (63%) movies were both positively received, despite most if not all critics being far outside the typical demographic for movies such as this. In short, what you end up with here is a rare scenario where neither the IMDB nor Rotten Tomatoes scores can really be trusted.
